Group Session

Four of us got together today to do some creative play and make some little art creations to leave around our village of Yellow Springs Ohio. I did the first face (a mixture of collage and acrylic) the clown face is acrylic painting and the eye stone is all decoupage. I also made some goodluck evil eye (nazar bonjuk) bones. To see more examples of found art visit here.

Cool! These are fun rocks. They are really going to surprise people. I wish I lived in Ohio so I could go look for them! ;-)

thanks. We all had fun sitting around the table with a pile of rocks, paint, bits and bobs and painted for 2 hours. I hope people enjoy them.

Do you put your website or the "Found Art" stickers that are on the Found art site on the rocks and bones that you leave around at places? Also do the people who find your pieces ever leave comments on your site? I've found that I get comments from other Found Artists but not from the people that find the art.

I actually started doing found art a long time before I joined "found artists" website. So I continued putting my website on my found art, my friends just put their names on theirs. I do have a link on my website page and on my blog to this blog. I have had a few comments on my website guestbook page, but most people just tell me in person (live in a small village).

I've received a few comments in e-mail from the site. I don't know if the comments are for me or other Found Artists and the finders didn't know where to leave the comments. I reply back and ask where they found the art or if there was a name on it, and I never get a reply. People are funny about sending e-mail to someone they don't know....or posting on blogs.

As the owner of the site, I can see that people join the site from a town right after I left art there. So, I know it's getting to people, and people like it enough to join in the fun, but they still don't leave a comment.

I'm hoping these blogs will help. But I don't know if people realize that they can reply anonymously. I don't want to put it out there blatantly on the page because we'll only get spammed.

Oh, the fun of trying to get people to interact! ;-) I've just gotten to the point in which I KNOW that my art makes a difference. I believe my art pieces make their way to the person who most needs to receive it. It's out of my hands.

well one of the problems I am finding is that the found art site isn't very user friendly. If people can't find a way to respond easily they give up. When they do respond sometimes we don't know who they are responding to. I do direct people to the site, but for found art it is easier to have them go direct to my page that shows pics of the found art. I do think the blog will help.

You're right about the site, Jafabrit. It was supposed to work much better than it does, but the programmer I hire skipped out before he was done and left a lot of things half done. I had to take quite a few things off of the site because they only worked to a degree that frustrated people.

This is why I've asked people to create their own blog and use their blog address on their art. Through your blog you can probably find out how many hits you get, even if people don't leave a message.

shari, that is such a shame. I have referred your site to all my art friends though and they love it. I think it is good to have this blog. It is a nice meeting point for people who like to leave art, a way for others to see a variety of found artists, and good for linking up to our own blogs.
