Little Angels

A fellow jafagirl Deb made little angels to leave around town. The wings are bits of wood that deb used a marker on. Mine and Nancy's are on the video. You can see some more pics of deb on the Yellow Springs Arts page.

Thoughts in a Tiny Mosaic

They may be silly, but I've made a few dozen of these things . . . a couple of words encased in a bottle cap with stained glass, inserted in a plastic snack bag with a business card letting the 'finder' know what they've found. I'm kind of nervous about letting them go . . .

Scrap Wood Art

Hi, everyone! I have been busy at work, but still creating Found Art. Just haven't had the time to scan stuff before I leave it. This weekend I decided I would make the time and post some more art.

I found a fence company in my town that has a FREE Wood box. I've started painting scraps of wood to leave as Found Art. Here's one of the pieces I'll be leaving for someone this week. I've posted pictures of two more pieces on my Found Art Blog.


I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving. While this time of the year is the hardest to find time to create, it's the most exciting time of the year to leave Found Art. Have fun!

Pins to Find

Here are three pins that I made from a styrofoam tray that I was using for a palette. The colors looked so cool, I cut it into strips and looked at it for a few days, wondering what to make out of it. Finally I decided to collage some pins. They have magazine words, netting, heart glitter, and buttons. Add a pin back and voila'-art from trash. I left two at the YMCA and still have one to leave. Finders...enjoy!

Leaving Lots of Art

I have been leaving Found Art, but haven't been posting here -- mostly because of time issues, but also because I didn't have any fun pics to share. In my unpacking at my new home, I found a stash of Found Art I had made months ago but had never left. So I've had a lot to leavel I've left art along the streets of Boston, in the Back Bay train station, on seats in the train, in newspaper bins, etc.

I walk to and from the train station every day. It's fun to have a handful of art and search for places to leave it along my route. I left one piece under the windshield wiper on a car. I hope they didn't think it was a ticket at first. The car behind this one had a bright orange ticket. My art was green, so it shouldn't have been confused with a ticket...I hope. Didn't want to give someone a heartattack on the way to their car.

When I found my stash of Found Art, I found a few I had made for the Christmas season that was never left last year. Now I have something to start with this year. When I make art for the Christmas season, I try to make it something anyone could enjoy -- no matter if they celebrate the holiday or not. The pieces I found mention slowing down during this hectic season and watching for the return of light.

In the Spirit of October

My newest postcard based on a manipulated photograph I took of a skull (with two stones in the eye sockets that I had painted eyes on.) Hope the jokes inspire a groan ;)

Hey....where is everybody. Is everybody too busy this summer to post anything? Here is my newest. I'm planning a trip to St. Augustine, FL and I have made a few new pieces to scatter there. Some are my old images that I have used before. The new one is the one with the Statue of Liberty. It's nice to leave some in new territory.

New Stuff

I'm a little late getting this post done. I left these two pieces a few days ago and didn't take time to post them. The first one has an origami kimono/shirt and says "Put on a garment of praise". I left it in my locker at the Y and two days later it was still there. I moved it to the curtained changing room and the next time it was gone. The other piece is done with a tin can lid for a frame. I found the little boy with the popsicle and green tongue and it just said summer to me, so I put letter beads that say "summer" on the hanger. I left it at a Texaco station, on the gas pump. People need a little something to cheer them up at the gas pump these days.

Drive-in Theater Art

Saturday night we went to a local drive-in theater called the Hi-way 50 Drive-in and I left this piece in the restroom. I designed the wings and altered the girl's photo and put them together with the type on Photoshop. Then I painted the background and mounted it and attached a piece of yellow netting using the letter pieces. "Recapture Your Imagination" just seemed to fit.
We saw Talledaga Nights and it was good for a few chuckles. The children in the movie were very rude and crude and that was disturbing, but by the end they cleaned up their act. The second feature was Snakes on a Plane. We left after 10 minutes of that. It was a pretty far-fetched plot. Not worth staying up until 1:00 in the morning to see.

New Postcard

This is one of my new postcards (from a small painting I did for my son). I showed my kids and a friend and it made them laugh so it has been added to my found art box I keep in the car.

Rocks

Here are some rocks I found while kayaking yesterday. I covered a couple of them with whiteout and drew on them with a graphite pencil and colored pencils. The colorful one had a hole so I put a colorful yarn through it and a tag. I'll probably leave it at the Y today.

I made it home in one piece. Hallelujah! Just enough white water adventure for a 47 year old. There were 11 of us in our group; my husband and I along with 9 others ranging in age from 15 to 25. We kept up with them and amazingly we are not too sore today.
Here is a photo of the pieces that I made in the car on the way. I forgot to take some with me when we went kayaking so the only ones that got left were the one on the left and the one on the right. The other photo is of the elk with one hanging on his antler. Sorry it's a bit blurry. I was trying to take the picture from my car without looking too conspicuous. The other two pieces will probably be left in Columbia somewhere since I'm not planning to go anywhere else soon.

Chattanooga Found Art

Well, I am in Chattanooga, TN visiting my son and daughter-in-law and we have just come back from eating dinner at Macaroni Grill. I left an art piece in the restroom on the hook in the stall. After dinner we went to the Sportsman's Warehouse and out in front there were some sculptures of a deer and an elk. I left a piece hanging on the elk's antler. I also have two other pieces that I made on the way here that I will leave somewhere tomorrow. We are going kayaking on the Hiawassee River I think. I don't have a way to post the pictures while I am here so I will post them when I get home.

Group Session

Four of us got together today to do some creative play and make some little art creations to leave around our village of Yellow Springs Ohio. I did the first face (a mixture of collage and acrylic) the clown face is acrylic painting and the eye stone is all decoupage. I also made some goodluck evil eye (nazar bonjuk) bones. A big found object

She is much bigger than what I normally do for found objects, but I couldn't resist. I bought her at a garage sale for 50 cents, spray painted black, rubbed on white acrylic, then used a magic marker to doodle on her, then sealed with spray varnish. Will leave her in Yellow Springs,Ohio over the weekend sometime.

Profound Thoughts

Haven't had time to collect rocks and don't want to buy any more rubber cockroaches (they are too popular). So decided to use a face I painted to make a sticky post- it postcard. I did a test run the other day by leaving one near a bulletin board and saw a couple laughing and the guy said cool. But he didn't take it, so I added Free Art on the front and will leave a few around town today.
